Selected through MASA Lab—the incubation and acceleration program of the Marché des Arts du Spectacle Africain (MASA) in Abidjan—Ruth Tafébé refined her unique artistic universe during this residency. Supported by the French Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire via the Fonds Équipe France (FEF), this initiative professionalizes artists, teams, and cultural operators in music, dance, and theater

Through tailored training, technical and creative support, and backing for national and international distribution, MASA Lab catapults emerging talents into the spotlight. For Ruth, this experience was pivotal: she honed afropop rhythms interwoven with traditional Ivorian influences, all carried by introspective lyrics.

Passage: An Inner Journey in 10 Unreleased Tracks


The album Passage delves into themes of inner journeys, resilience, and life’s transitions. Comprising 10 unreleased tracks, it stems from collaborations with exceptional producers. Ruth Tafébé displays remarkable artistic maturity, blending modernity and roots to craft a sound that’s both universal and deeply rooted in Ivorian identity.

This opus not only marks the end of a fruitful residency but also the dawn of a new era for the artist, ready to conquer local and international stages.

Eligibility Criteria

    • African artists or from the diaspora, individuals or groups.

    • Disciplines: music, dance, visual arts.

NB: Priority will be given to groups with reduced numbers.

  • Artistic bio, video portfolio (3-5 min), HD photos.

  • Project description and technical needs.

As part of the partnership between the ACERCA program, implemented by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Spanish Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, and the Abidjan African Performing Arts Market (MASA), a training workshop was held from December 15 to 19, 2025, at the Maison du MASA. Unlike previous sessions, this edition took place after the announcement of the call for applications results, targeting exclusively the 29 selected cultural managers from various artistic disciplines.

The main objective was to equip these professionals with the necessary tools to understand the realities of MASA and interact effectively with programmers, buyers, and other professional stakeholders expected at the next edition, scheduled from April 11 to 18, 2026. Led by Ms. Valentina Zanelli, an international technical expert, the in-person workshop (daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) focused on the profession of cultural manager, cultural markets, and relationships between artists and programmers. The participants concluded the training satisfied, with their certificates in hand.

For one week, MASA will offer a program rich in artistic discoveries, professional meetings, and collaboration opportunities.

From December 3 to 5, 2025, the MASA FESTIVAL’s Internal Selection Committee for artistic groups met at the MASA house in the Plateau district of Abidjan to select the troupes that will participate in the 14th edition of the MASA FESTIVAL. This edition will take place from April 11 to 18, 2026, in Abidjan, under the theme: “Performing Arts in Africa, a tool for economic and social integration.”

The committee reviewed 384 applications from 52 countries, submitted via the official MASA FESTIVAL platform. Following the deliberations, the MASA FESTIVAL Selection Committee selected 39 artists and groups from 23 countries, distributed as follows:

05 in Street Arts;

04 in Circus;

01 in Storytelling;

06 in Contemporary Dance;

02 in Urban Dance;

04 in Young Audience;

13 in Music;

01 in Slam;

03 in Theater.

The MASA General Management warmly thanks the members of the MASA FESTIVAL Internal Selection Committee for their commitment and the quality of their work, as well as all the candidates for the excellence of their proposals. It congratulates the selected artists and invites them to promptly initiate the necessary administrative procedures, including visa and health formalities, for their participation in MASA 2026.

From December 3 to 5, 2025, the MASA’s International Artistic Committee (CAI) met in Abidjan for its 2nd technical session, in preparation for the 14th edition of MASA, which will take place from April 11 to 18, 2026, in Abidjan, under the theme: “Performing Arts in Africa, a tool for economic and social integration.”

The 23 CAI members reviewed 1,866 applications from 51 countries, registered via the official MASA Marché platform.

Following these proceedings, the CAI selected a total of 60 artists and
artistic groups from 28 countries, distributed as follows:

    • –  01 in Street Arts ;

    • –  03 in Circus ;

    • –  04  in Storytelling ;

    • –  09 in Contemporary Dance;

    • –  01 in Traditional Dance;

    • –  02 in Urban Dance ;

    • –  06 in Humor ;

    • –  01 in Young Audience ;

    • –  02 in Puppets ;

    • –  16 in Music;

    • –  07 in Slam ;

    • –  08 en Theater. 
    • The MASA General Management expresses its deep gratitude to the CAI
      members for their rigor and dedication, as well as to all candidates for
      the artistic quality of their proposals. It congratulates the selected
      groups and invites them to immediately undertake the necessary

From 3 to 5 December 2025, the MASA House in Abidjan is hosting the 2nd meeting of the MASA International Artistic Committee (IAC). This key event brings together 23 experts from Africa, America and Europe, tasked with reviewing the 1,866 applications received for MASA Market 2026.

Street arts, circus, storytelling, dance, comedy, young audience shows, puppetry, music, slam and theatre will all be in the spotlight. At the end of the deliberations, the official list of groups selected for the 14th edition of MASA will be announced.

As a reminder, the 14th edition of MASA will take place from 11 to 18 April 2026 in Abidjan, under the theme “Performing arts in Africa, a tool for economic and social integration”. It will bring together more than 3,000 artists and professionals from the performing arts sector.
