Title of the Show: Walling Up Fear
Patrick Mohr presents Murer la Peur, a performance of burning contemporary relevance, brought to life by a remarkable ensemble of artists fully invested in their message. The actresses, driven by the urgency to communicate, deliver profoundly moving performances on stage. Created in Senegal, the show generates a unique communion and catharsis with African audiences.
Walling Up Fear is a theatrical, musical, and choreographic work exploring constructive revolt—transforming indignation and anger into creative expression to counter morbidity, cynicism, and pessimism. The performance bridges cultures and disciplines around shared dreams. Inspired by a poignant text by Mozambican author Mia Couto, this heartfelt cry against resignation pulses to the rhythms of West African traditional music (sabar, mbalakh, tassou), Mandingue melodies, and Afro-Cuban sounds. Gathering versatile artists from Switzerland, Cuba, Mali, and Senegal, the piece overflows with vitality, denouncing societal dysfunctions while imagining poetic alternatives.
Produced by Théâtre Spirale, a multicultural and multidisciplinary company touring worldwide for over 30 years and fostering lasting connections—especially in West Africa—Murer la Peur unites its emblematic figures in a vibrant, resonant project.
