Words Of Azia is a France-born artist of Ivorian descent whose music blends soul melodies, jazz textures, and traditional Bhété rhythms. Inspired by her mother, a musician, and driven by an early love for the stage, she infuses her compositions with passion for writing, poetry, and spirituality, creating a sound that bridges cultures and eras. Singing in both English and Bhété, Azia crafts music that is deeply personal yet resonates universally.
Supported by the enchanting voices of Azia and her mother Yao Rose, the ensemble weaves a sonic universe mixing jazz, afro-folk, soul, and Wihégou – the ritual Bhété chant steeped in spirituality. Accompanied by Steven Amoikon (guitar, percussion) and Keïna Etenor (double bass), they bring to life lyrics in English and Bhété, blending poetry, memory, and rhythm. Guitars sing, voices narrate, and together they channel the memories and soul of a world suspended between past and future.
