The MASA Honored at the Carthage Theatre Days for Its Contribution to African Theatre

At the opening of the 26th edition of the Journées Théâtrales de Carthage (JTC), several prominent figures from Tunisian, Arab, and African theatre were honoured for their significant contributions to the performing arts. Among them, Abdramane Kamaté, Director General of the Marché des Arts du Spectacle Africain (MASA), received a major distinction in recognition of his commitment.

In an interview with Farafinet.info, Mr. Kamaté expressed his “great pride and deep gratitude” for this recognition received in Carthage. He stressed that the award acknowledges both personal and collective efforts through MASA’s work to support and promote African artistic creation, particularly Ivorian. He highlighted the decisive role of the Ivorian government in this success thanks to its sustained financial support that allows the pavilion to host the continent’s best talents every two years.

Mr. Kamaté also emphasized the responsibility that this distinction entails, stating that it encourages him to continue and intensify his efforts to do even better in the coming years.

The ceremony also paid tribute to several theatre personalities, living or deceased. Mr. Mounir Argui, president of the JTC organising committee, recalled that this homage is not simply a look back but a renewed commitment: “The theatre continues, and the flame must never go out.”
