Resounding success for the artistic residency showcase of the Tell’Arts company at INSAAC

Friday, October 17, 2025, will remain a memorable date for live performance in Côte d’Ivoire. The Tell’Arts company, led by Sow Souleymane, presented the conclusion of its artistic residency at the Bitty Moro theater hall, located at INSAAC. The event, organized as part of the incubation at MASA Lab, was a great success with a full house and an enthusiastic audience.

The creation presented, titled “Poupée Barbue ” by Edouard Elvis Bvouma, tells the heartbreaking story of Beretta, a child soldier victim of a mass rape. Through a powerful monologue, the show explores civil war, escape, endured violence, anger, the blossoming love for Boy Killer, as well as the deep inner pain of the character. Written by Édouard Elvis Bvouma, this poetic and expressive show gives voice to the innocent victims of conflicts, especially children and women facing extreme violence. “Bearded Doll” is a poignant hymn to the memory of the suffering caused by war, highlighting its impact on the most vulnerable.

This artistic residency, the result of in-depth work of creation and experimentation, benefited from the mentorship of Mr. Hassane Kouyaté, General Director of the Francophonies of Limoges and a recognized director. Under his direction, the Tell’Arts company refined its creation, blending innovation and emotion, which delighted all attendees.

MASA Lab, an incubator for live performances in Côte d’Ivoire, plays a key role in the professionalization of artists and cultural operators. Supported by the French Embassy in Côte d’Ivoire through the Équipe France Fund (FEF), this program, integrating the African Performing Arts Market of Abidjan (MASA), offers artists comprehensive support: training, technical and creative assistance, as well as support for both national and international distribution.

This success confirms the importance of such initiatives to energize the Ivorian cultural sector and allow local talents to shine beyond borders. Congratulations to the Tell’Arts company for this magnificent performance, a sign of a promising future for theater and artistic creation in Côte d’Ivoire.
